That doesn’t mean the trend is already dated, it simply means that stores can turn over stock and start bringing in their inventory for the fall. If you need some fresh inspiration to help forget that summer has ended, we have all the tips and tricks to updating your home this fall with some end of season decor deals.
Here is a roundup of our favourite trends from this past summer season.
When you think of summer tones yellow is an obvious one, however, it’s not usually the first thing you think of when picking a new paint colour for your kitchen or your new sofa. This year yellow has been a strong colour trend and we are definitely not mad about it! It seems to stem from a new take on neutrals with hues from yellow clay and yellow onyx at the forefront. We think by adding an accent chair or a painting a cabinet in a natural and warm yellow tone you can brighten up any room and add an effortless cheery vibe.

This is another spin-off were loving. To make animal print more subtle and stylish try finding a subdued print in a neutral colour scheme or a small pop of print to a table setting. Animal print has been around as long as design and it seems every season there is a new take on it. This season brought us back to subtle and slightly abstracted animal prints. The good news about animal print, they work with all styles and in any room. Both options add a big punch of personality and can transition from season to season as well as your classic grey walls. Look out for lots of new prints this fall to play around with!

Although it is not our go-to style, we can appreciate a minimalist space. This is probably an obvious one due to how popular it has become. The acceptance of this decor style is pretty much second to none this year and it still has its place in the ranks for the seasons to come. Minimizing the clutter in your home and implementing this calm vibe is a real game changer. Utilize neutral colour palettes and texture in your home to bring this style to life.

Being bold doesn’t get much easier than this trend. On the opposite end of the style spectrum, we are finding statement wallpaper everywhere. Being bold doesn’t get much easier than this trend. By adding a pop of texture or a bold print you can take an otherwise simple space and create an eye-catching moment in any room. Whether it’s a tiny powder room or a large living room this trend is here to stay because of its versatility and we’re loving it! Don’t forget, even the most subtle prints can add a huge impact.

Designers getting extra creative when utilizing textures to amplify a space. Whether you’re going for an industrial look, classic elegance or a bohemian vibe, you can incorporate this trend into your space in any number of ways. We love using a textured wallpaper, natural stone or wood to give off a “natural and unfinished” look to a space. Textiles are the easiest and most cost-effective way to add instant texture, so look to pillows, bedding, and upholstered items to help build layers of texture in your home. By finding unique furniture pieces like bed frames, floor lamps or accent chairs you can add a lot of depth and personality to your home.

One of our favourite trends from this summer was punchy pastels. Bright colour pallets are increasing popularity in retail spaces, but we are finally seeing the beautiful combination of colours making their way into residential spaces. Restaurants, shops and boutiques are taking this trend into their repertoire and utilizing the eye-catching power it has. Our best advice for styling with this trend is to start with a couple of pastel tones and pepper in additional colours as you feel more confident. A fun wallpaper, area rug or dish set will surely brighten up your space and your mood!
